SOLAR ENERGY UTILIZATION AND DISSEMINATION
Alternative Energy Promotion Centre is organizing a conference entitled “Solar Energy Utilization and Dissemination” which is supported by the Renewable Energy Project, a joint initiative of the European Union and the Government of Nepal.
The objectives of the conference are to:
- Stimulate the debate on the use of solar technologies for electrification in Nepal: rural and urban;
- Propose measures: technical, policy and financial for increased use of solar technologies.
The conference is centered around two major technologies: solar thermal and PV. The use and dissemination of each technology will be discussed in terms of technical, policy and financing issues. The working sessions will consist of key note presentations followed by a discussion that should identify the barriers and the way towards larger use of two solar technologies.
The conference aims to attract the representatives of major stakeholders: the private sector (solar companies and end-users), government, donors, academia, financial institutions.
The national conference will take place on 15-16 June 2008 at the Hotel Soaltee Crown Plaza, Tahachal, Kathmandu. It will be accompanied by the demonstration of solar thermal technologies at the conference venue. The demonstration activity will be pursued on 17 and 18 June 2008 at the Institute of Engineering, Pulchowk Campus, Lalitpur, Nepal.
