The Alternative Energy Promotion Center (AEPC) is the Executing Authority for this project. The overall project management and implementation is entrusted to the Project Task Force, which is constituted of Local Technical Project Staff, Government seconded staff and local support staff. The PTF coordinates activities from Lalitpur and five field offices across the country in order to ensure access and close communication with the benefiting communities. The PTF experts, both Nepalese and European, combine their respective know-how of the solar sector and rural electrification to achieve the best within this project.
The Project Steering Committee (PSC) advice the REP on policies and major strategic decisions. The PSC members include representatives from the AEPC, REP, National Planning Commission, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology, Association of District Development Committee of Nepal. The representatives of the EC-Delegation to Nepal are observers to the PSC. The PSC meets at least twice a year.
The Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) is headed by National Project Director (NPD) and composed of the representatives from various sector such as donor agencies, solar industry, local government representatives and NGOs. The TAC discusses the technical issues related to the implementation of the project and provides the recommendation on critical issues to be decided on PSC At the regional level, the REP is implemented by 5 Regional offices staffed with the Local Technical Project Staff. Field offices are working directly with communities in the 22 selected districts. Each field office is staffed with two/three technical coordinators and one/two social mobilization coordinator. The field offices are located in Dhangadhi, Nepalganj, Pokhara, Lalitpur and Biratnagar to cover the districts of far-western, mid-western, western, central and eastern development region, respectively.
At district level, the DDC officials support the local technical project staff in all project activities. At the local community level, the Project is working closely with the selected COs that will be transformed into CESPs.
